Danny and Emily

Danny and Emily

Monday, March 5, 2012

I have to say, Danny and I have a lot of things we get excited about, but there is nothing better than a sunny day in Provo, Utah after a week of snow! Today, we had to be outside. We found a cute beach cruiser that had been sitting around my house, we grabbed a blanket, and rode our new set of wheels to the park and had a picnic. It was so beautiful outside. We just sat and absorbed the sunlight. With both of us being from sunny, hot places...we realized how much we missed the warmth. We have now begun counting down the days until we are back in California, getting married, then until we get on that flight to our new home in Laie, Hawaii! Happiness is an understatement for us.

Coast to Coast

Danny and I met and started dating back in September of last year. When I first met him I knew two things about him. 1) He was from California and 2) He was so cute. Some how passing by at a mutual friends apartment turned into a Facebook request and that turned into a Facebook message (we really upgraded) and then we started texting (finally). I quickly learned Danny was not the "throw himself out there kind of guy" when he invited me to join him for a "Shin Dig" for our first date. My response? "What is a shin dig?" In South Carolina we just called them parties, or a get together. Haha. After our shin dig date, a few days later we went on our second date and played glow in the dark croshe then went and got a shake at Sammy's. Then our third date we went to Los Hermanos on center street in Provo. After that, we just hit it off...and it didn't take us long to realize we had something worth holding on to.

So, in November we took a trip to California. Were I met his wonderful, fun family. A little over a month later we got on a plane to South Carolina for Christmas break, then we were both back in California for New Years, then back to Provo, then a month after that in January we were back on another plane to South Carolina for my sister, Ashtans, wedding. I am not sure how many miles we covered in about two months, but It was close to 9,800 miles. I loved every minute of it. My family fell in love with Danny, just as I did. It is hard not to. I learned more and more how perfect we collided. His patient personality balanced me, and my energy tended to get him more excited about even the small things. I loved everything about him, and I still do, and always will because a month after that, We were engaged!

I had no doubt. I knew that being with Danny was what I knew was best for me. We go so well together, and he makes me beyond happy, that being with someone besides him didn't seem appealing. It felt right. For months before we were engaged I started making a list of things I loved about Danny (and he happened to be doing the same). I found 90 reasons in thirty minutes. They ranged from little things like how he took my trash out and did my dishes without me asking, I would just walk in and the kitchen would be clean...to things like how he makes me feel special by standing in front of a chapel full of pre-missionaries speaking at a mini MTC, and then asking me to stand up in front of them all as he tells how he got blessed with a beautiful girl after his mission. The list went on and on. I could not deny I wanted to be with him forever.

On February 11,  Danny picked me up. We were on our way to Cafe Rio for some dinner before going Ice skating with some friends, when he made a detour and went up the Canyon. As we drove up he said we were going to watch the sunset and asked if I remembered coming up to that canyon when we first started dating, as the memories came back of that night back in September, Danny backed his truck up so the bed was facing the sun set. We got out and he open the tailgate. His guitar, a red blanket, and little candle in the corner were perfectly placed in the bed of his. We sat there and he started playing "our song", one that we sung a duet too at a family talent show (Oh, Darling by Plug in Stereo, if you were curios). It was kinda our thing to sing it a lot for fun. So, he started playing (and Danny is very talented, playing the guitar is just one thing of many, that he is very good at it) So, he sings it and then he sits it down and just looked at me. Of course, with my luck I had put on old mascara which was making my eyes water, and  I already looked like I was crying. Danny got really nervous at this point. He asked me, if I would love him forever. Of course, I said yes. Before I knew it he got on one knee, things got a little blurry, but I heard him say "Emily Evelyn, will you marry me?"  and out came another Yes. It was precious...totally a Danny proposal which was my favorite thing about it. And the ring, It is beautiful. Danny went and designed it after one that I had loved previously but he got it made even better then I could have imagined. It was a night that wont be forgotten.

So, that is our history, but only the beginning of our story. ..Coast to coast we found love, and they say, Where there is Love, there is Life and Never before have I felt so alive.
